Meet Rascal. He’s a little feral kitten I caught 3 nights ago at a local restaurant. He’s still a bit scared, hisses and swipes at me when I come near him, but after you get him in your hands he just submits. He should be socialized in no time.
I feel SO AMAZING today.
On a website I participate in someone posted a heartbreaking thread asking for help. The shelter they work for had recently fostered a litter of kittens, and they tested positive for FeLV. Even though they are a no-kill shelter, unless they could find a shelter or sanctuary in California to take them in they’d have to be euthanized- they had no way to quarantine them or keep them their full lives. I did as much research as possible and actually found a kitty sanctuary in CA that stated they had a FeLV/FIV sanctuary along with their rescue. I gave the person online the information and they wrote back just an hour ago saying that the shelter said yes and will be saving these babies lives!!!! They were scheduled to be euthanized later today. I’m soooooo happy!
Over the past few weeks
we went through a lot of vet visits. $295 emergency visit to the vet at midnight when Wild Thing showed up after disappearing for 9 days with her eye looking horrible as ever and her having some mini-seizure fits. She got antibiotics and pain medication, and I am happy to say she is 100% recovered and doing great- the vet estimated her to be EIGHT YEARS OLD! Crazy, I had no idea she was that old. Then my dilute calico Stella got a massive foxtail stuck in her eye which was another $150 vet visit. And then we just got momma cat spayed last Tuesday, as well as tested and vaccinated. That was another $170. Kitties cost a lot, please be responsible and spay/neuter your pets to keep more strays and ferals off of the streets.
Well, I saved three more babies from an abusive old lady. They had ear mites and worms pretty bad but have all been treated. I know I haven’t been on/updating ANY of my blogs lately.. things have been so crazy with 8 kittens along with Wild Thing’s eye infection, Stella got a foxtail stuck in her eye.. it’s seriously been insane. Happy these babies are in my loving care now though.. and i’ve already found homes for two of them!!!
